William ?Bill? Milton Willis
William ?Bill? Milton Willis, 70, of Ottumwa, died at 5:55 p.m. Nov. 9, 2000, at the Ottumwa Regional Health Center.
The funeral service was 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 13, at the Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa with the Rev. Jim Stern of Northgate Alliance Church officiating. The graveside service was 3 p.m. Monday at Burge Cemetery near New London. Visitation began after 9 a.m. Sunday at the Reece Funeral Home with family present from 2 to 4 p.m. A memorial has been established for Northgate Alliance Church or the donor?s choice of charities.
Mr. Willis was born March 13, 1930, in Mt. Pleasant, the son of Joseph Paul and Ida Fletcher DeSpain Willis. He married Helen M. Lingenfelter at Lockridge on May 19, 1957.
A 1949 graduate of New London High School, he was president of his class. He graduated from Tech Institute in Kansas City and worked at KTVO, KBIZ, Colormaster, and Lee?s Photography. He was a member of Northgate Alliance Church, a lifetime member of the Mt. Pleasant Moose lodge, a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, and a member of the Ottumwa Camera Club. His interests included geneaology and photography.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Joseph H. Willis of Ottumwa; a daughter, Lucinda K. Willis of Ottumwa; and a sister, LeAnna Thornburg of Oakville. He was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Dean Willis.
