William Edward Cook was born June 22, 1946, in Cedar Rapids, IA, the son of Edward Orville and Nadine (Wood) Cook. He was raised in Cedar Rapids, Ladora and Victor areas. Bill graduated from HLV Community School with the class of 1964. On August 4, 1964 he entered the U.S. Air Force and retired TSgt (E6) September 1, 1984. He served in Vietnam, Philippines, Germany, Holland and numerous places in the United States. William was united in marriage to Deanna Eggert Wade on February 14, 2003, at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Williamsburg. Bill enjoyed fishing, jigsaw puzzles, spending time with his family and his dogs. Bill died Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at the Compass Memorial Hospital, in Marengo, at the age of 77 years.
He is survived by his wife, Deanna, of Marengo; two sisters, Sandy (Ron) Barker, of Columbia, MO and Marilyn Primley, of Cedar Rapids; brother, Gale (Christy) Primley, of Cedar Rapids; stepdaughter, Johnnette Kruse (Bill Collins), of Williamsburg; two stepgrandchildren, Dakota and Chyanne Kruse, two stepgreat-grandchildren, Izzabella and Cassiel Plank; stepbrother and good friend, Bill Haley; two sisters-in-law, Crystal (Whitey) Benscoter, of Marengo and Dixie (Jim) Moody, of Monticello, IL; three special nieces, Keeley (Mark) Welsh, Leasa (Bruce) Lantzky and Amber (Lonnie) Friederick; an uncle Gale (Bev) Wood; several cousins; 2 great-nieces and 4 great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nadine Haley and Edward Cook, two stepfathers, Avon Primley and Joseph Haley, sister, Carol Wellman, brother, Dennis Primley, niece, Mindy Barker and stepson, Jeff Wade.
Celebration of Life Service was at 1:00 pm on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Williamsburg. Burial will be at the Ladora Cemetery. Visitation was on Saturday from 11:00 am until service time at the church. A memorial fund has been established for the St. Paul United Methodist Church.
