William Gay, 65, of Florida City, Fla. died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2000, after a brief illness.

A service, celebrating the life of Bill Gay, will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, at Faith Christian Outreach Church, 1302 E. Washington St., Mt. Pleasant. A luncheon will follow. Please bring a covered dish. Memorials can be made to the Bill Gay Memorial Fund. No flowers please.

Mr. Gay was born May 20, 1934, in Erie, Pa., the son of Howard and Ethel Gay. He married Shirley Marie Bush on June 26, 1957. He worked at B.F. Goodrich and B.F. Goodrich, International for 10 years. He then worked at Bandag in Muscatine for 29 years, spending four years in Oxford, N.C. He retired in May 1996. He was involved in many ministry-related activities, including a street ministry in Muscatine, with coffee houses and other programs for young people. He was instrumental in many receiving the Lord Jesus Christ and continuing their walk with Him. He was a longtime board member at the Faith Christian Outreach Church in Mt. Pleasant. He spent last spring and summer, along with his wife, Shirley, ministering on the Cheyenne River Indian Reserve in Timberlake, S.D.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley; and a daughter, Tanya Meiners of Houston, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one infant sister, Jacqueline.
