William H. 'Bill' Henthorn

William H. "Bill" Henthorn, 84, of Mt. Pleasant, died Thursday, Oct. 2, 2008, at Henry County Health Center.

Visitation will be held from noon to 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 5, at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 6, at the chapel, with Pastors Titus Boggs and Nathan Martin officiating. Burial will be at Salem East Cemetery. Memorials have been established to the Grace Community Friends Church and the Salem Friends Church. Online condolences may be directed to www.olsonpowell.com.

Bill was born April 22, 1924, to William E. and Eva M. Rieke Henthorn at home in Burlington. Bill grew up in the German neighborhoods of Burlington and attended Oak Street Baptist Church, which his great great-grandfather helped found in 1867. He accepted Christ Jesus' salvation and lordship and spent a lifetime memorizing scripture and serving as a deacon, choir tenor and adult Sunday School teacher.
