William 'Phil' Wittich January 20, 1929 - March 22, 2004

William "Phil" Wittich, 75, of Park Place in Mt. Pleasant, formerly of Fort Madison, died at 9:40 p.m. on Monday, March 22, 2004, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

      The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 25 at King-Lynk Funeral Home in Fort Madison, with the Rev. Joyce Schiedeman officiating. Burial with military rites conducted by the VFW Color Guard Post 1805, Marine Corps League and American Legion Post 82 will be in Soldiers Circle in Oakland Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. on Thursday, at the funeral home, with family present from 1 to 2 p.m. A memorial has been established.

Survivors include his wife of Burlington; two daughters, Nancy McDaniel of Donnellson, and Patty McPherson of West Burlington; a son, John Wittich of Elkhart, Kan.; eight grandchildren and one great-grandson; a brother, Arthur Wittich of Keokuk; and a sister, Harriet Wittich of Keokuk.

      He was preceded in death by his parents.
