RAGBRAI has come and gone and it was a day to remember. Washington?s effort to make sure all the bikers felt welcomed when they rode into town was outstanding. One of the most colorful and welcoming sights to greet the visitors was the wonderful array of colorful flowers that were on display in the section of Sunset Park that is home to the Log Cabin. This showcase of hard work and dedication to making Washington a welcome sight came about due to the efforts of Jeanne Kos and her team of hard workers. These ladies donated their muscle, talents and time when Jeanne called upon them to be her helpers in transforming that part of the park. The innovative touch of the colorful bicycles that were set among the flowers was truly a masterful stroke. The volunteers who spent their time and elbow grease in making our park such a delightful place are to be commended and thanked. I highly suspect that the flowers and mulch that were used to make the whole area so attractive were not fully paid for by the city. By opening up their purses and contributing their labor, these volunteers left a lasting mark of floral beauty to Washington. Thanks to all of you who gave of your time and money to this beautification project. The sight will be enjoyed for many days and weeks to come.
Respectfully,
