Appalled

To the Editor:

?Appalled? is a word that is used to describe great disgust. Like genocide or what Hitler did to the Jews during World War II. Not a word one uses during a football game, where young men are trying their best, with all the effort they can. It?s about two coaches trying to outdo their worthy opponents.

I am writing this for two reasons. To enlighten a color announcer on TV, to let this color announcer know, who does not even know what his job, work, instructions are ? which are to report without prejudice or negativity for both teams.

The other reason is obviously this color announcer has no idea how an Iowan thinks. We might have been disappointed or just say, ?Darn it,? ?Aw, shucks,? or ?Eight and 5 ? heck, that?s a pretty good year.? We will never be appalled: by our children, our pride, our state, our love, our morals, or our simple way of life. We sure are not going to change for some color announcer who doesn?t know anything about Iowans. We could not be prouder of our Hawkeyes.

And I?m also sure the Outback Bowl organization has nothing but great expectations from us Iowans, because we have been there before. We Iowans are grateful to the Outback Bowl to let us get away from the cold and have some fun, which we Iowans ?like? to do. We would also like to thank ABC for having us join in on this great festival we have as Americans to bring in the New Year, called football ? not ?appalling?!
