G'Morning, G'Night is a positive, uplifting book written by Linn Manuel Miranda. There's a passage to start your day and a passage to end your night. Each passage leaves a smile on your face and you feel as if Miranda were reading to you. The Washington Public Library recently acquired this book for you to enjoy. What could be a better read to start off 2019? Because it is a book of essays, G'Morning, G'night is located on the second level of the library or you can simply ask for it at the circulation desk.
We are hoping to provide the community with some positive, uplifting programs as well this week at the library. On Wednesday, Dec. 12 at 1:30 p.m. we will be hosting a screening of the ever-popular movie Elf for the K-12 early-out Movie Madness. At 4 p.m. on that same day, teens are invited to come make a holiday ornament with all supplies provided. Color yourself calm at our adult Coloring Club on Thursday, Dec. 13 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
On Saturday, Dec. 15, we have two programs. The Washington Writers' Workshop will meet from 10 a.m. to noon. Visiting fiction writer, Ian McMurray, from the Iowa Writers' Workshop will give a presentation on craft during the first hour. Ian is originally from Michigan. He holds a BA in writing from Johns Hopkins University and is a current MFA candidate at the Iowa Writers' Workshop. During the second hour we will workshop submissions from members. This program is free and open to adult and teens. If you would rather do some Christmas crafting, you can join us for Christmas Gone Green at 10 a.m. that morning. Learn how to transform an old book into a beautiful Christmas wreath! This program is free and open to all ages. (Fifth grade and under should be accompanied by an adult.) Participants should bring something special to adorn your wreath (antique buttons, old Christmas ornaments, etc. and ribbons). All other materials will be provided, but registration is required.
December is a busy month, but we aim to make it positive and uplifting for you at your Washington Public Library.
