To all Cub fans in Washington and everywhere,
A very sincere belated congratulations on your team?s excellent success during the 2015 season. The Cubs won 97 games ? a franchise record. Your team played the Mets seven times during the regular season and won all seven by the total score of 33-11. During the NLCS games, the Mets won four (4) straight ? the last one, 8-3 (8 plus 3 equals 11 ? a play on numbers).
Yes, sometimes I pulled for the Cubs, but only when they could help the Mets in their standings. As I recall, toward the end of the fourth game, the TV cameras focused on the fans in the stands ? showing their very sad faces ? then the cameras focused on the sky over Wrigley Field, and it was raining, as if all Cub fans and the angels were crying at the same time.
Evidently, the curse of the legendary goat named Murphy lives on. The ?new? Murphy was/is Daniel Murphy, the second baseman for the Mets.
Sincerely,
Al Kinzler
Met fan since 1962
P.S. Now all Cub fans can scream out in unison, ?WAIT TILL NEXT YEAR!?
