Democrats support workers

Henry County Democrats stand firmly behind workers who form the foundation of our economy. We believe they deserve a livable wage in addition to our financial support to help them and their families when they are unemployed.

We also believe that when Washington, D.C., offers to allocate some of our tax dollars to support those unemployed workers through the lean times, Iowa should be happy to receive that cash. In addition to supporting our families, those dollars flow back into our economy. We Democrats also oppose efforts by some to reduce Iowa’s current unemployment benefits.

When Iowa (through executive action or legislation) demonstrates our support for workers, we also encourage our young men and women to stay in Iowa, and we present a welcoming environment to others that might decide to move here. That support invites the best and the brightest to see Iowa as a good place to raise a family. Policy decisions that support our families truly strengthen our future.
