This year?s political campaigns have stirred many emotions: disgust, hate, fear, dismay and insult, and in my opinion, the electronic media has only promoted more of the same.
Each and every candidate seems to have some attribute(s) sorely lacking. The feeling of disgust and despair seem to be permeating the electorate. It seems to be another time of trying to decide which of the ?lesser of two evils? to support to guide our country in the future.
As a result, I?ve heard many folks state that they?re so disgusted with all the candidates that they?re not going to cast their vote for any of them.
What a waste!
Those folks are forgetting just how blessed they are to live in a nation that was founded on the premise of one citizen equals one vote. ?We the People? have a vested interest in the workings of our government. In other words, if our elected officials aren?t doing the job we elected them for, we can vote ?em out.
If you?re not satisfied with the direction our nation is heading, now is not the time to be selfish and give up your privilege to vote and change that direction. Don?t allow some person or group or news agency to speak your wishes for you.
Choose the candidate of the political party that best reflects your philosophy and cast your vote for them. In my opinion, there will never be a ?perfect? leader until the Second Coming, so ?bite the bullet? and exercise your constitutional privilege and right to vote and have a hand in the direction of this nation?s future.
Now is not the time for ?I? or ?me? thinking. Now is the time for ?we? thinking, as in ?we the people.?
This presidential election is crucial to all of us who enjoy all the liberties and rights this great nation provides. The outcome will affect all of us ? the ?I?s, the ?me?s and yes, the ?we the people.?
So, I urge all the ?none of the above? voters to reconsider and don?t quit now when we?re nearing the end of the race. So, do your own research and a lot of soul-searching when considering your candidate and get out and vote.
Remember your old school coach?s favorite saying: ?Quitters never win and winners never quit.?
Don?t be a quitter.

George F. Leonard
