To the Editor:
We have seen many changes take place in politics and our economy. However, one constant is that many people are battling cancer. These realities make dollars donated and hours volunteered to the American Cancer Society so important.
Plans are under way for the American Cancer Society?s Relay For Life of Washington County, set for this Saturday, June 23, at Washington?s Central Park.
Money raised at Relay For Life helps the Society?s mission of helping people stay well and get well, finding cures and fighting back against cancer. Relay For Life supports the Society?s vital research efforts, as well as programs for patients including transportation assistance and free lodging at Hope Lodge facilities.
Now is the time for Washington County residents to join in the fight against cancer through Relay For Life. Celebrate survivors. Remember loved ones lost. Pledge to fight back. Join us for the 2012 American Cancer Society and Relay For Life of Washington County on Saturday as we ?Relay By the Dozen!?
This year?s event will be dedicated in memory of Judy Moore. A dedication ceremony will take place during the opening ceremony at noon. All survivors are invited to celebrate their victory over cancer during the survivor ceremony at 6 p.m. The entire community is encouraged to attend the memorial ceremony at 8:30 p.m. followed by the beautiful luminaria ceremony at 9:30 p.m. The event will end at midnight with the closing ceremony, which begins at 11:30 p.m. with a candle-lit lap around the square.
