Doing his part
to help
Editor:
I am in favor of the mask proposal by Parks and Rec.
I am fully vaccinated, and I do not enjoy a mask. I find them irritating and can't wait to take it off as soon as I am able. This is the small thing I can do to help stop this terrible disease from killing more of us. I can put up with this annoyance and in my better moments I can remember that this is how I can do my part.
Or I can be small-minded and, because I don't like masks I can tell myself that they don't work, that the pandemic is a hoax, that mandates limit my personal freedom of choice, or any other rationalization I can come up with to avoid the annoying use of masks. And then I would miss one of my only opportunities to help.
To my friends and neighbors who are anti-mask, if you are right, you are being inconvenienced and irritated for no reason.
And if you are wrong you are contributing to more deaths.
So I say to you and to our City Council, man up. Be proudly irritated and annoyed and help fight the war for all of our well being.
