Passing on a good deed

Cards, flowers, friends, family, and dinner ?out.? Yesterday I had everything to make my 92nd birthday happy.
But the surprise of the day came later at the grocery store. As I took out my debit card to pay the bill, the clerk smiled and said, ?Your food was paid for by the person ahead of you in line.?

Cards, flowers, friends, family, and dinner ?out.? Yesterday I had everything to make my 92nd birthday happy.
But the surprise of the day came later at the grocery store. As I took out my debit card to pay the bill, the clerk smiled and said, ?Your food was paid for by the person ahead of you in line.?
Shocked, I quickly looked around, but no one was in sight. Some very kind person was already on his or her way home.
If we ever meet, I hope to say ?thank you,? and that I will pass the good deed on to someone else.
Sincerely,
Esther Bordwell
