The Kiwanis AM?ers meets every Friday morning and we appreciate the opportunity to meet at the Y. We also sponsor the Washington Middle School Builders Club and we have from six to 12-plus Builders? members at our weekly meetings.
Our mission, as members of Kiwanis International, centers on the belief that the most effective way to enhance a community is to enhance its children. When we give a child the chance to learn, experience, dream and succeed, great things happen. We are proud of our Builders who work with us to raise funds to benefit the children in our community. They learn teamwork and leadership skills. Meeting with them at the Y gives the youth a chance to see the greater community they live in, outside of home and school.
It is great to walk into the Y about 6:15 on Friday mornings where we are greeted with a friendly face at the main desk. AM?ers and the Builders bound up three flights of stairs to reach the Y?s Men?s Room where they will enjoy a bountiful breakfast before the meeting begins. The Builders are asked to stand and introduce themselves, which is followed by a round of enthusiastic applause. They participate in our meetings and lift our spirits.
The AM?ers believe the Y is vital to our children and the community. We support the Y?s proposed building project and the bond referendum in August.
Sincerely,
Linda Wenger, President
Kiwanis AM?ers
