Memorial Day, Flag Day and Fourth of July are a few of the days honoring our veterans and enjoying our freedoms.
A wounded vet went to our swimming pool to enjoy a day with family and friends. His space was crowded by young folks. He later discovered his wallet and cell phone were stolen. A reward was posted ? two weeks later, no sign of his medal, wallet or phone received.
Employees taking his money should have offered a basket to keep his valuables and clothing safe in the pool?s office area. No extra fees should be needed for this service ? if they want others to come to their town?s pool. Other pools don?t charge for baskets, and not all folks have a car to leave their valuables locked up. I fear for shoes and towels next. ? Guess I?ll stay home, too.
The wallet was a special Christmas gift, too.
Sincerely,
Maj. Arlene J. Osterkamp-Sellars
