To the editor:
I am writing to thank the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce for their wonderful efforts in and support of our Fairfield community.
I would also like to thank them for naming me as one of the two Citizens of the Year in April ... and again for affording us both the opportunity to turn on the lights in the town square Friday night (Nov. 25). It’s regrettable that Ron Haines was unable to participate because it was truly an enjoyable experience!
Yes, I did surprise my entire family. They had no idea that I was to do the lighting!
In reading today’s newspaper article about the lighting of the town square, I need to “set the record straight.” Somehow, some misinformation was included in the article about me. Please don’t judge the author of the article. Who knows what happened - I’m sure there was an error of some type.
I wholeheartedly believe that volunteering for and participating in worthy causes and organizations for which a person is passionate about is important. It “makes the world go ‘round.” However, I have never served on the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center, the Fairfield Visitors Bureau, or the Greater Jefferson County Foundation Board. But other very special people do, and we can be grateful!
I appreciate the opportunity to write this note.
