Not present and not missed
Everybody loves a parade, well almost.
Having attended a few small town parades in South East Iowa this summer, this is what you missed if you didn’t make it.
Folks of all ages (grandparents to babies) line the streets, cheer and wave as different exhibits come by and toss candy to excited kids.
It’s a family-oriented variety show of displays and floats promoting love and support for community and country.
Typically led by the Sheriff, Police, State Patrol followed by Veterans carrying the United States Flag, it’s heart-warming to see people show respect as Old Glory passes.
Henry County Honor Guard and Veterans, Military personnel and vehicles, marching band, first-responders, hospital, Cradle of Hope, Grand Marshalls, mayors, queens, Sweet Sixteen young ladies, Churches, Shriners funny cars, private businesses, square dancers, other dancers, old cars, old trucks, old tractors, horses, steam engines, much more including Republican politicians/candidates and the patriotic themed Henry County Republican Party float.
Not seen were the Democrats, they just don’t fit in.
Thanks to our Republican led government, Iowa is the best state to retire in and second best for health care, where parents can parent and teachers can teach.
Iowa is nice without Democrats.
