Here are some reasons to vote ?No? on the upcoming city of Washington Bond referendum that will help fund a new YMCA building.
No, because you do not want to pay extra taxes on your property every year for the next 20 years to help pay for a $10 million building in which the city has no ownership or control in the future.
No, because you believe your city property taxes should be used to operate and maintain public property and public services; city taxes should not be collected for any private building projects.
No, because you have already donated through the county?s donation and the city?s contribution of land or have made a private donation.
As 50-year supporters of the YMCA, YWCA, and the Washington Community Y, we ask you to join us in voting ?No? on Aug. 2 because we believe the success of any private building fund should not rest on the shoulders of Washington?s property taxpayers.
