We would like to identify that ?local retirement facility,? pictured in the Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, Washington Evening Journal, as our United Presbyterian Home. What a timely occasion that our Administrator, Mike Moore, and his staff provided for those veterans living at the U.P. Home, to have a book signing for that most interesting book ?We Lucky Few.? It was especially great for those veterans who were unable to attend the book signing at the Washington Library a few weeks ago. At that time Larry Cuddeback and his daughter, Cheyenne Miller Cuddeback, who compiled the book, presented each veteran, whose story had been recorded by them, a copy of the book. For those not acquainted with ?We Lucky Few,? we highly recommend it as a most interesting read. Not only for those of us who ?lived through this time? and having had relatives or friends who had gone off to fight, but the stories are a good reminder of what war is all about and what our veterans went through to protect our country.
We wish to thank the Cuddebacks for all their time and effort putting together this most interesting ?history? book. It was a great tribute to all the veterans whose stories they recorded.
I (Bob) was privileged to be able to go on an Honor Flight this past spring, along with son Brad, who was my ?guardian.? We enjoyed the trip very much and were so impressed with how well it was organized. And even though our return flight was two hours late (due to bad weather) arriving back to Cedar Rapids, at midnight, we were greeted by a crowd of over 300, along with a band ? what a welcome we received!
