Why is it that one landfill by law has to cover everything that is brought to it each day and another landfill doesn?t have to? I thought everyone was to be treated equal (unless you?re a politician). So my real question is, why does Semco landfill have to cover things and the ?looks like a landfill? at 1676 Highway 1, south of Kalona about six miles or north of Washington on Highway 1 maybe nine or 10 miles, doesn?t have to cover anything? Maybe those people who are against zoning and want to move to the country should buy a lot and move next door to 1676 Highway 1 south of Kalona or north of Washington nine or 10 miles on Highway 1. You could sit outside at night in your screened-in porch and listen to all the four-legged varmints digging through the food items there. You could have the grandkids out for an overnighter and show them what mice, rats, skunks, possum, fox, coyote, raccoon, the neighbor?s dog and cat look like and more.
I?m not for zoning, but I think when something becomes an eyesore and a health hazard, then something should be done about it.
