Williamsburg Kiwanis Christmas Trees
The Williamsburg Kiwanis have Christmas trees for sale. They are located south of the Brothers Market parking lot. Varieties include Scotch Pine, Balsam Fir and Frazier Fir.
Lighted float
Carolers aboard Compass Memorial Healthcare’s lighted holiday float will bring Christmas cheer to the following Iowa County communities beginning at 5:30 p.m.: Dec. 13, Williamsburg; Dec. 15, Victor; Dec. 19, Marengo. For more information, call (319) 642-8068.
Arts Guild artist demos
On Saturdays throughout November and December, The Amana Arts Guild’s Gallery on Main artists will be demonstrating their work. Scheduled artists are: Dec. 17, Paulette Buckingham, paintings.
Santa at Ladora
Santa will visit the Ladora Stora on Saturday, Dec. 17, from 9 to 11 a.m.
Santa plans visit to Marengo
The Friends of Marengo (The Haunted Barn) are bringing Santa and his merry friends to town Saturday, Dec. 17. Santa and friends will make stops in Marengo as well as a stop in Ladora, handing out gifts to children. He has received a generous donation of toys to hand out. There will be more details to come including times and location of stops.
Carol sing
Pleasant Grove Grace Brethren Church will host a community Christmas hymn sing at 6 p.m. Dec. 18. Those attending are invited to prepare a piece of special music or a favorite reading and also to bring a favorite finger food snack item to share during the fellowship time which will follow.
Iowa County SWCD to meet
The Iowa County SWCD will hold its monthly meeting on Dec. 20 at the USDA building, 435 N. Highland St., Williamsburg, at 8 a.m. Please call ahead if special accommodations are needed, (319) 668-2359 ext. 300.
The Iowa County SWCD is conducting their monthly meetings on the same schedule via conference calls for the time being. The meetings are still open to the public. If interested in attending they can email debra.conrad@ia.nacdnet.net for the conference call information.
Amana blood drive
The Amana Library will host an ImpactLife Blood Drive Thursday, Dec. 22, from 1:30 to 6:30 p.m. The event will be held in the Amana Elementary Cafeteria, 3023 220th Trail, Middle Amana.
As a special thank you, all donors will receive a gift card or donation to Feeding America. Potential donors must be at least 17, weigh more than 110 pounds, and possess a photo ID to donate. Please eat and hydrate before donating. Whole blood and double red cell will be available to donate. Lake Iowa Nature Center
Visit Lake Iowa Nature Center (LINC) every first Saturday afternoon of the month December 2022 through May 2023. LINC will be open for you to explore inside, do some fun interactive activities, and learn about nature.
Each Saturday will have a different theme, and a program from 1-2 p.m. Dates and themes are:
Jan. 7: What are animals doing during the winter?
Feb. 4: Ice fishing basics
March 4: Live salamander program
April: Spring is Here!
May 6: Fishing basics
Used Book Sale
The Amana Library is having an ongoing used book sale in the periodical room: Monday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Tuesday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Wednesday, 8 a.m. to noon; Thursday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday, 9 a.m. to noon. Offerings include cook books, gardening, romance, fiction, non-fiction and kids’ books. Persons with books to donate, may drop them off during the above hours. Call 319-622-3192 for more information.
Swaddling Clothes

Thursday, Dec. 22: Hot dog/bun, potato chips, baked beans, apple, cookie.
