IV track teams recap season

The Iowa Valley High School boys and girls high school track team broke three school records in 2023.

Lydia Kriegel, a sophomore, bettered the school shot put record, as well as placing eighth in the state meet with a throw of 36’ 4.75’’. She also placed fifth in the state discus throw with a throw 114’3”.

The “Fast Four” of Clayton Kinzenbaw, Pierce Kienitz, Caleb Haack and Evan Kearney broke school records in the 4x100 meter relay with a time of 43.47 seconds and the 4x200 meter relay at 1.31.38 minutes. They placed third in the state meet in both events and fourth in the 1600 meter medley relay.

“Our relay teams performed at a high level this year and were led by our three seniors,” said boys’ track coach Casey Krull. Our 4x100 and 4x200 ran great times at the state meet, both placing third.”

“We had a lot of success this year as a team,” Krull continued. “We finished top three in the conference and won the Rick Wanamaker Invitation in Marengo. We sent seven events to state this year to cap off a great season.”
