Sep. 5, 2023 8:37 am
GRINNELL — UnityPoint Health has expanded its virtual care offerings to pediatric patients across the state.
Parents with children ages 2-17 who are unable to see a primary care provider or visit a walk-in clinic may now consider virtual care options, SmartExam or virtual urgent care, for treatment of several common ailments and illness.
SmartExam and virtual urgent care are available every day, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., in MyUnityPoint for patients within the state of Iowa. For more information on all virtual care options, visit the UnityPoint website.
“This is one more way we are making care easier and more accessible for patients of all ages,” said Patricia Newland, M.D., President of UnityPoint Clinic.
SmartExam
Pediatric patients can currently receive treatment options for several common ailments and illness through SmartExam, including acne, burns, head lice, red eye and upper respiratory illness.
All patients using SmartExam pay a flat $30 fee and answer questions about their symptoms through an intuitive online screening tool. They’ll then receive a diagnosis and treatment options from a trusted UnityPoint Health provider in less than an hour.
Virtual Urgent Care
Through virtual urgent care UnityPoint Health providers can diagnose, recommend treatment and prescribe medication when necessary for many common ailments and illness via video chat.
Individuals in Iowa can request a virtual urgent care visit through MyUnityPoint. Some restrictions do apply for patients, ages 2-17, visit our website for more information.
Award-Winning Self-Scheduling
Patients can also reserve a time to be seen in-person at the Urgent Care, Express and Express Care clinics, as well as schedule same-day appointments with their primary care provider or their care team.
