One of the greatest challenges of the Christmas season is delivering a message that is very familiar and keeping it fresh. To remain excited about something you know very well when the danger is familiarity, and staleness. When that happens then it is time to spend time on your knees in front of the manger. Time to worship the Christ-child.
Looking at Romans 5:2 which says “we boast in the hope of the glory of God.” Our confidence that the purpose for which God created us will be ultimately realized (Bible Study Notes).” Christian’s do you realize what you have in Jesus Christ? To know His grace and salvation. Sometimes we become too familiar and forget what we have and whom Jesus is.
“My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus blood and righteousness, I dare not trust the sweetest frame, but wholly lean on Jesus name.“ (Edward Mote).
At Christmas we rejoice in the birth of Jesus. Now that the season is over; what are you rejoicing over? Do you boast of what we have in Christ?
“On Christ the solid rock I stand; all other ground is sinking sand. All other ground is sinking sand.“ (Edward Mote)
Our Bible study group was studying Daniel last night and the court of the king had gathered perplexed over a great crisis. The king had a dream and no one could explain or interpret it. “The king summoned the magicians, enchanters, sorcerers, and astrologers.” Daniel 2:2. These people had no idea who to turn to, they did not know the God of creation. When we know the hope we have in Christ we have someone to boast about.
“A mother, the instant that she knows she is with child, lives her every moment in anticipation of her deliverance from the burden that is within her. After a time she cannot take a step, make a move, think a thought that is dissociated from the coming of her child.
In America, people are supposed to ignore the obvious fact that a woman is with child. In France the case is quite the contrary. If a man is introduced to a woman who is an expectant mother, it is the height of politeness for him to congratulate her. “Je vous felicite de votre esperance.” “I congratulate you on your hope,” is a common phrase among the cultured.
Just as a woman becomes pregnant in anticipation of bearing a child, so a believer becomes saved in anticipation of being fully like the Lord Jesus Christ. It is unto this state of hope that we are saved.”
Have a great weekend
