Brighten someone’s day

Parson to Person
May the people of GOD bring the Light, Love & Life of Jesus Christ. Let’s make deposits of God’s grace and mercy into countless lives around us.
The word “Brighten” is an action word and means to bring more light. It’s about making a person or place more attractive & cheerful and less cloudy or dark. Jesus Christ calls us to live as a light in this world and SHINE!
Psalm 34.4-5: I sought the LORD, He answered me; He delivered me from all my fears. Those who look to Him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame …
Plus, Matthew 13:43: the Righteous will shine like the sun in the Kingdom of their Father. Whoever has ears, let them hear.
One glowing, New Testament example, found in the book of Acts chapters 6 and 8 is Philip the Evangelist. He desired to represent Jesus Christ, His Kingdom and bring salvation through Jesus’ name & blood to others.
Philip came across a man from Ethiopia while traveling. This Ethiopian was reading from the Old Testament prophet, Isaiah. However, he did not comprehend what he was reading. Philip was glad to share his time, explain the passage, lead this foreigner to salvation and a Savior, and baptized him in water- all to the glory of God!
Of course our chief example is Christ, who lived each day lived with love and compassion for humanity! May We- His Body- follow His lead & live filled full of compassion.
In what ways this week in your community will you personally go out of our way to brighten someone’s day?
Galatians 5:13 says “use your freedom to serve one another in love.” I believe we can do this when we choose to slow down, practice patience with others, listen to them, love on them and share God’s Truth & Gospel. In other words, living Holy Spirit-Conscious and Kingdom Conscious!
Philippians 2:14-16- Do everything without grumbling or arguing, so you may become blameless and pure, children of God, without fault in a warped and crooked generation.” You will shine among them like stars in the sky as you hold firmly to the Word of Life.
Avoid being a bear, impatient, cruel, unfaithful, impolite, hotheaded, defensive, critical, negative, cranky, greedy, undisciplined, prideful.
To conclude, the acrostic, B-R-I-G-H-T!
Bless — Respect — Include — Go — Heal — Touch
Bless- You blessed by the Father to be a blessing!
Respect- All are created in God’s image. Respect their differences.
Include- Avoid ignoring, leaving out, treated others as lesser than.
Go- make disciples. Teach, share what Jesus taught through words AND actions! We can’t be led by Spirit if stuck on couch.
Heal- Find a hurt, heal a hurt. Find a need, help meet a need.
Touch-Touch lives. Impart God’s anointing and residue that resides in you.
Much like police investigators dust a crime scene for evidence, will we be found guilty of Love in first degree? His Kindness? Compassion, generosity, humility? Making Disciples? Courage? Loyalty?
Believers, may you be found guilty of loving your neighbor on every count!
May WE deliver & declare the Light, Love & Life of our King!
Jesus instructed us in Luke 6.31 Do to others what you would have them do to you. As I like to say, Go out of your way to Brighten someone’s day!
Your Challenge is “K-1-N-D.” Think of, pray for and reach out to 1 person to be KIND to and deliver the Light, Love & Life of Jesus Christ this week.
