Ever feel like a disposable cup?
PARSON TO PERSON

When was the last time you used a disposable cup? Have you ever thought about the life expectancy of a disposable cup? What about the long-term strategy of a disposable cup? Wardrobe selection? Investment strategy?
I know. That’s ridiculous. Disposable cups have one purpose, and one purpose alone. Their sole existence is to deliver a delicious beverage for the enjoyment of the user.
Then, they’re discarded.
Ever feel like a discarded, disposable cup? Maybe you said something that got you canceled. We live in a culture that cancels people and products, often without evidence or facts. Maybe you were in a relationship and suddenly you weren’t. Maybe it was a job you loved and you were asked to leave. But you know who else got discarded by his own people and canceled?
Jesus. He was discarded by his own people. John, the apostle records this:
“11 He came to his own people, and even they rejected him. 12 But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God.” John 1:11-12 NLT
If you’ve been discarded or canceled, like a disposable cup, you’re in good company because Jesus was too! You see, Jesus didn’t come to be served, but to serve and give his life as a ransom for our sins. (Mark 10:45) Jesus lived the life of a disposable cup, serving others.
Let me encourage you to live your life in service to others. God is faithful and he loves you with an everlasting love, no matter how you’ve been treated. Be a disposable cup for God’s glory!
