Advice columnist Ann Landers received about 10,000 letters every month.
When asked to name the most common problem in her reader’s lives, she said, Fear! People are afraid. They fear losing their health, their money, and people they love.
In the beginning of creation, the moment mankind trusted the voice of Satan, more than God — fear gripped their lives. They hid from God because they feared. Made excuses and blamed others.
The Bible reveals that fear is a tormentor. It torments your mind and your body.
Medical science tells us fear will trigger more than 1,400 known physical and chemical responses and can activate more than 30 different hormones and neurotransmitters. It is the root of worry and stress and has terrible health consequences.
2 Timothy 1:7 says, “God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind.”
Because Satan is a liar, fear is always rooted in a lie. The lie about your father, what others think of you, that who are, you’ll never have enough or be enough. These fears torment you.
It’s why I say fear is False Evidence Appearing Real.
If it comes from our enemy, we should reject it. Refuse to believe the lie. Rebuke its voice over your life.
Instead, put your trust in God. His Word to you is true. He will help you, he will save you, and he will deliver you.
Hebrews 13:5-6 reveals this truth, “I will never leave you, nor forsake you, that you may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, I will not fear.”
God tells us again, and again do not fear, put your trust in me. He knows your enemy wants to control your life with fear. Because fear intimidates, paralyzes, withdraws, and torments you.
The only way to conquer fear is trusting God. He is your strength, your hope, your peace, your answer, your friend, your savior, your defender, your victory.
Fear is a lie! So don’t listen to its false evidence appearing real. Listen to God’s word to you, “Fear not for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will help you, yes I will uphold you with my right hand — the hand of the righteous,” Isaiah 41:10.
Face fear with God’s word and conquer its tormenting voice.
Jesus is Lord.
