Finish strong for Jesus!
Parson to Person

Champions are willing to do what others are not. As a young competitor in sports I learned many lessons that I have applied to my daily walk with Jesus.
The author of Hebrews in chapter 12 encourages believers to get back in the “race” and finish strong like a champion.
The Hebrew believers are encouraged with this “Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.”
They are encouraged to get rid of all distractions or “heavy things” that might slow them down. Anything that distracts their devotion and commitment to Jesus!
Secondly, they are encouraged to put aside sins that they are easily caught in. Sins like the lust of the flesh and eyes and the boastful pride of life. Sins like unbelief, rebellion and not being correctable.
In verse 13, the author says “Therefore strengthen the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees, and make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame may not be dislocated, but rather be healed.”
Finally, they are encouraged to strengthen what is weak and run to win!
Join me in finishing like a champion for Jesus, regardless of how long a race we have left!
