Genesis 1:1-5 When God began to create the heavens and the earth, the earth was complete chaos, and darkness covered the face of the deep, while a wind from God swept over the face of the waters. Then God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. And God saw that the light was good, and God separated the light from the darkness. God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, the first day.
Do you ever feel like your life is in complete chaos and darkness? The first verses of the Bible bring amazing truth and hope in chaos, darkness and distress. Think of the scale of creation, the entire earth and the heavens, and in one day with just his word, God brought order and light. What you are facing might be huge, but I’d bet it’s not bigger than the earth and sky. Put your hope in God our Creator. He made a way through Jesus Christ, his Son, for us to have a right relationship with him, so that he could bring light, even the Light of the World, into our darkness. So that he could bring order into our chaos.
If you have put your trust in Jesus Christ to save you and bring you into a right relationship with God, you can live in hope even in a world with much darkness and chaos. You can pray like David did in the Psalms.
Psalm 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O God, and put a new and right spirit within me.
Praying for God to bring order and light into your chaos and darkness does not always make all hardships go away. It also doesn’t remove your responsibility to make changes and choices that more genuinely reflect God’s plans for how a believer should live. But seeking God’s order, direction and Spirit can bring a different perspective in our hearts, replacing despair with hope and replacing chaos with Godly focus and direction. He’s waiting eagerly for a conversation with you to begin a new work on creation in you!
