Season of Change
Pastor Don Brown, First Assembly of God Mt Pleasant

Parson to Person
As a rule I love change! As I continue to age, some changes become harder to maneuver.
Continual change defines what it means to be a disciple of Jesus (one who has been born again).
The Apostle Paul through the Holy Spirit teaches this idea of continual change as a pattern of biblical growth. (2 Cor 3:18) But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.
Paul had previously referenced how the face of Moses had reflected the glory of God after meeting with the Lord.
In this story Moses was required to wear a covering over his face so the people would not see the glory of God fade from Moses face.
Paul moves on to make the point as New Testament disciples who have received the Spirit of God, we reflect the glory of God but without fading. It is the ministry of the Spirit of God to empower us to gaze into the face of Jesus (being led by the Spirit is completely optional though).
As we “fix our gaze upon the author and finisher of our faith” we are transformed, changed into the image of Jesus!
I welcome this continual change and whatever it requires to facilitate this transformation!
If we do not submit and surrender to the season of change we will forfeit Gods preferred future for us.
The first generation of Israelites that came out of Egypt forfeited being the ones to possess the promised land due to resisting the Holy Spirit and the change that was required.
Change looks like being more like Jesus!
I welcome you to join me this year to say yes to the Holy Spirit!
