Southeast Iowa Union offers audio versions of articles using Instaread. Some words may be mispronounced.
“Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The Lord, the Lord Himself is my strength; and my defense; He has become my salvation.” (Isaiah 12:2).
Our Bible Study group has been studying Isaiah for a little while, one night our booklet encouraged us to memorize this verse. So we decided to claim this as our verse for 2025.
Let’s break this down and make a declaration.
1. God is my Salvation:
As we step into the New Year let this phrase express the source of our salvation which is not found in wealth or karma or good works. The source of our salvation is found in Christ.
“Our salvation should give us joy every day, not merely in the period immediately following our conversion. God’s salvation is not about eternal life only, but about an abundant life right now.” (Charles Stanley).
2. God is my Trust:
“Those who know your name trust in you, for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you.” Psalm 9:10.
That says it all, Trust in the power of God throughout 2025. Make the Lord your trust.
3. God is my Strength
Question: Where or who is our inner strength? Answer: The Lord.
That is why we pray daily and read scripture to build up our inner strength. It’s like daily exercising our physical and spiritual body.
“Since God himself is a steadfast rock, the foundation of all certitude and steadfastness, it must be by faith or holding fast to God that man can become steadfast.” (Andrew Murray).
4. God Is My Song
Isaiah 12 is entitled ”Songs of Praise.” As God is our salvation, strength and trust, we have a reason to sing.
Fanny Crosby sang Blessed Assurance Jesus is mine O what a foretaste of glory divine. Heir of salvation, purchase of God. Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood.
“He put a new song in my mouth. A Hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the Lord and put their trust in Him.” (Psalm 40:3).
May the Lord be the source of our song in 2025.
