The Christ of Christmas
PARSON TO PERSON

Christmas…so what's the big deal? The real joy of the season seems to get lost today vs that amazing day when everything changed on earth!
To fully experience the joy and peace that belongs to us we only need to return to the Scriptures. Luke 2:10,11 records: ”Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.
We are told by angelic messengers the event is cause for peace and joy. The event, a Savior is born to us! As events unfold in the story we discover that Jesus is more than human!
We are told from the angels that Jesus is Christ the Lord! The name Christ means “the anointed one, Messiah” and “the Lord”is the national name Israel uses for God.
Matthew 1:21,23 records that this Baby shall be called Jesus for He shall save His people from their sin and “Immanuel “ meaning God is with us!
If Jesus isn't God then Christmas is just another day. If Jesus isn't God then we are all still dead in our sin and headed to hell. If Jesus isn't God then we are hopelessly doomed to a life without hope.
But Jesus is God! Only God Himself could provide a way of escape for us. Only God Himself could save us from our sin! Immanuel. God with us! If God is with us then He is also for us! Jesus said He did not come to condemn us but to save us!Christmas is still about God with and for us! But we will only experience God for us if we welcome God with us and in us! Paul said the hope of glory is “Christ in us!”
The Christ of Christmas must become personal and God in us through invitation.
This Christmas season join me in celebrating Jesus..God in us, God with us and God for us!
