The United Church of Crawfordsville is excited to share details about a new after-school program, Impact Kids" for K-6th grade students. This program takes place on Wednesdays at the WACO Elementary School from 3:45-5 p.m. The Church is renting the gym and cafeteria.
The purpose is to have fun with the kids while teaching them about God. Volunteers who wish to help arrive at the church by 3:15 p.m. for instructions and a short prayer, before heading over to the school to welcome the kids around 3:30 p.m. This will be the kids’ time to play in the gym and get signed in.
Afterward, the kids will enjoy snacks, music lessons and coloring in the cafeteria, where they will have a chance to win prizes.
Following that, there will be a bit more gym time, before wrapping up with a final snack, prayer and song. They also make sure the kids have homework!
Their first lesson explains to the kids that they are one of a kind and that God loves them. The second lesson helps them to understand that God made them for a purpose. The third reminds them that God is the Alpha and the Omega.
In the fourth week they were taught about the seven days of Creation. Later they will discuss Jesus revealing Himself, and in week five, discussion will be covering the topic of giving life to dry bones. These lessons are important and can't be taught in school, which is why Pastor Jason is grateful for the church leadership's support in launching this program.
The church would love to have any and all adults who would be interested in volunteering with this weekly after-school program.
Anyone that is able to help weekly or monthly will be greatly appreciated. Contact the church at once If you can do so and become involved in the Impact Leaders group.
