2023 Pekin senior Mersadies Sieren

Pekin senior Mersadies Sieren is in the spotlight this week. She is the daughter of Seth and Kelli Sieren. Her siblings include Owen, Karsen, and Anna.
While in school she was involved in Volleyball, Wrestling Manager, Dance Team, Softball, FCCLA, FBLA, FFA, ISTEP, Diversity Club, National Honor Society, Ruritan Rising Seniors. She also worked as a CAN in Sigourney.
What’s your favorite school memory or what will you remember the most? Going to state for dance.
If you could go back and change one thing, what would it be? I would get involved sooner than I did.
Finish this sentence: “I could not live without…” My family.
What’s the best and/or worst thing about being a senior? Probably leaving my friends I've grown up with.
Which teacher or staff member has had the biggest impact on you and why? Mr. Weber, he has pushed me in more ways than just in the classroom. He has helped me in a lot of different circumstances and is easy to talk to.
What advice do you have for incoming high school freshmen? Get involved and do what you can while you are here.
What are your plans after graduation? I plan on attending Indian Hills and getting my A.A in psychology and social work. I am undecided where I want to major in Social Work.
What is one outrageous thing you want to try in your lifetime? I want to try sky diving.
If you could move anywhere in the world, where would you go and why? Tulsa, Oklahoma or Marysville, Washington.
Who has been your biggest influence in your life and why? My grandma Lea Sieren. She is extremely hardworking and one of the sweetest souls. She has also influenced my career choice of going into social work.
Any additional comments? Overall high school can be a great time in your life. Extracurricular activities truly make your time very enjoyable.
