The area food pantry is located in the Richland United Methodist Church in Richland. Anyone living in the Pekin School district has access to this resource. For anyone needing help go to the Fellowship Hall door that is located on Richland St. on the west side of the church. Food pantry hours of operation are Tues. and Wed. 9-11 a.m. and Thur. 6-8 p.m. Office phone 319-456-2251, emergency contact 319-750-2631. This is a Partner Agency with the Food Bank of Iowa.

KEOKUK COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY

The Keokuk County Historical Society is open Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Arrangements for visiting other days can be arranged by calling 641-622-3005, please leave a message and a volunteer will return your call. Come see our museum or do genealogy research.

RICHLAND LIBRARY PICNIC IN THE PARK, FRIDAY, JULY 14

Registration required! Join the library Friday, July 14 next to the shelter on the square from noon until 1 p.m. for a picnic! Bring a blanket or camp chair to sit on and the library will provide a sack lunch and stories. Please register in advance. This program is open to students in kindergarten through 12th grade. Younger children may attend with an adult caregiver.

RICHLAND ALUMNI TEA, SATURDAY, JULY 15

The Richland Alumni Tea will be held Saturday, July 15 from 2-4 p.m. at the Richland Methodist Fellowship Hall. Classes of 1943, 1948, 1953 and 1958 will be honored. All alumni, guests and Richland area Pekin graduates are welcome to attend.

The Pekin School Board will meet in regular session on Monday, July 17 at 6 p.m. in the Board Room/Media Center at Pekin Schools.

Richland American Legion Post 504 will meet on Monday, July 17 at 7 p.m. in the Richland United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. Visitors welcome, refreshments will be served.

The Richland Public Library will end the summer fun with a splash featuring outdoor games, activities & snacks on Tuesday, July 25 from 1-2 p.m. Be sure to wear old clothes and be prepared to get messy! PEKIN ALL-CLASS GET TOGETHER, SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 10

Sunday, Sept. 10, Pekin’s Class of ‘68 is hosting a Pekin Alumni (all classes) get together at the Hinshaw Shelter house at the Richland town park from 1:00-4:00 p.m. Everyone is invited to bring their own beverage (no alcohol allowed) and a snack to share if they wish. Please bring lawn chairs also. The Class of ‘68 needs your help in getting the word out to all the classes and alumni, so please share this information.

RICHLAND LIBRARY’S LEGO & BUILDING CLUB, WEDNESDAYS IN JUNE AND JULY

Drop in anytime between 3-5 p.m. on Wednesdays in June and July to show off your building skills. We’ll display the best creations for a week! This free program is open to ages five through adult.

RICHLAND LIBRARY’S AMAZING VOICES TEEN PROGRAM, THURSDAYS

Teens entering 6th through 12th grade are invited to join the Richland Library on Thursdays from 3-4 p.m. We’ll feature arts, crafts, games, movies and time to hang out with friends. Plenty of snacks will be provided!

HEDRICK LIBRARY SUMMER READING PROGRAM

Hedrick Public Library’s Summer Reading Program will be from 1-2:30 p.m. every Wednesday in June and July. Kids in grades K-12 are welcome to come enjoy stories, crafts, games, snacks, and prizes. Call 641-653-2211 to register your child for this program.
