The area food pantry is located in the Richland United Methodist Church in Richland. Anyone living in the Pekin School district has access to this resource. For anyone needing help go to the Fellowship Hall door that is located on Richland St. on the west side of the church. Food pantry hours of operation are Tues. and Wed. 9-11 a.m. and Thur. 6-8 p.m. Office phone 319-456-2251, emergency contact 319-750-2631. This is a Partner Agency with the Food Bank of Iowa.

Keokuk County Historical Society

The Keokuk County Historical Society is open Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Arrangements for visiting other days can be arranged by calling 641-622-3005, please leave a message and a volunteer will return your call. Come see our museum or do genealogy research.

Richland Public Library's Kids Club, Tuesdays.

Students in kindergarten through fifth grade are invited to join us at the Richland Library for snacks, stories, crafts and games on Tuesdays from 4-5 p.m.

Richland Public Library's Tiny Tots, Wednesdays

Toddlers and their caregivers are invited to join us at the library for songs, circle activities and play on Wednesdays from 3:30-4 p.m. Class size is limited, please register in advance at the library.

Teen-Time at the Richland Public Library, Thursdays

Students in 6th grade and up are invited to join us for snacks, games and time to hang out with friends on Thursdays from 4-5 p.m.

You’re invited to bring a trunk to Richland’s Trunk-or-treat night

Community members and businesses are invited to set up a “trunk” on Saturday, October 28 on the Richland square for Trunk-or-treat night. Please contact Hailey Pedrick by Oct. 15 to reserve a spot, hailey.pedrick@pekincsd.org or call 641-919-6607. This event is being put on by Pekin FFA and Richland Community Club, in sponsorship of the Richland Fire Dept.

Sandwiches being served at Pekin’s home football game Friday, September 22

The Masons and Eastern Star will be serving pulled pork sandwiches at Pekin’s home football game on Friday, September 22.

Ella Bond’s Fight Against Rett Syndrome Fundraiser, Saturday, September 23

Nutrien Ag Solutions is hosting Ella Bond’s Fight Against Rett Syndrome Fundraiser on Saturday, September 23 at the Carl Craft Civic Center in Hedrick. A 2 vs 2 Bags Tournament will begin at 3 p.m. (register at 2:30). Free will donation supper will start at 5 p.m. A silent auction will be going on also, with last call at 6:30 p.m., winners announced at 7:15. The meal will be provided by Bubba Q’s.

Rubio Ice Cream Social and Music Jam, Sunday, September 24

Rubio will be holding a Music Jam and Ice Cream and Cookie Social on Sunday, September 24 from 5-7 p.m. at the Rubio Community Building. Free will donations will go toward maintenance of the building.

Haunted Camping at the Keokuk Co. Expo, Friday, Sept. 29 & Saturday, Sept. 30

Preregistration is recommended for camping. Camping $18/night. Come enjoy a weekend of activities at the Keokuk Co. Expo Haunted Camping Sept. 29 and 30. There will be camper decorating contest, separate Halloween movies for kids and for adults, pumpkin rolling contest, bags tournament, costume contest, hayrack ride, spooky kike, trick-or-treating throughout the campers, and more. Spooky Hike @ Keokuk Co. Expo., Saturday, September 30

A Spooky Hike will be at the Keokuk County Expo on Saturday, September 30 from 8-10 p.m. There will be a shorter hike, and a longer scarier hike. $5/person, kids five and under free. Proceeds will go to extending campgrounds and a future bath house.

The City of Hedrick Trick-or-treat night will be Tuesday, October 31. Hot dogs will be served from 5-6 p.m. at the Community Center, the parade will start at 5:30 p.m. at the fire station and end at the Community Center. Trick-or-treating will be from 6-8 p.m.

The City of Packwood will be hosting a meal at the Fire Station from 5-6 p.m. on Tuesday, October 31. Trick-or-treating will be from 6-8 p.m.

The City of Brighton Trick-or-treat night will be Tuesday, October 31 from 5-7 p.m. There will also be events and a food truck uptown in the park.
