The area food pantry is located in the Richland United Methodist Church in Richland. Anyone living in the Pekin School district has access to this resource. For anyone needing help go to the Fellowship Hall door that is located on Richland St. on the west side of the church. Food pantry hours of operation are Tues. and Wed. 9-11 a.m. and Thur. 6-8 p.m. Office phone 319-456-2251, emergency contact 319-750-2631. This is a Partner Agency with the Food Bank of Iowa.

Keokuk County Historical Society

The Keokuk County Historical Society is open Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Arrangements for visiting other days can be arranged by calling 641-622-3005, please leave a message and a volunteer will return your call. Come see our museum or do genealogy research.

Richland Public Library's Kids Club, Tuesdays.

Students in kindergarten through fifth grade are invited to join us at the Richland Library for snacks, stories, crafts and games on Tuesdays from 4-5 p.m.

Richland Public Library's Tiny Tots, Wednesdays

Toddlers and their caregivers are invited to join us at the library for songs, circle activities and play on Wednesdays from 3:15-3:40 p.m. Class size is limited, please register in advance at the library.

Teen-Time at the Richland Public Library, Thursdays

Students in 6th grade and up are invited to join us for snacks, games and time to hang out with friends on Thursdays from 4-5 p.m.

You’re invited to bring a trunk to Richland’s Trunk or Treat night

Community members and businesses are invited to set up a “trunk” on Saturday, October 28 on the Richland square for Trunk or Treat night. Please contact Hailey Pedrick by Oct. 15 to reserve a spot, hailey.pedrick@pekincsd.org or call 641-919-6607. This event is being put on by Pekin FFA and Richland Community Club, in sponsorship of the Richland Fire Dept.

The Pekin Ruritans will be selling smoked pork loin sandwiches at Pekin’s home football game Friday, October 13.

Brighton City Council meeting, Monday, October 16

The Brighton City Council will meet in regular session on Monday, October 16 at 6 p.m. at City Hall.

Cowboy Church at Richland, Sunday, October 22

Cowboy Church will be held in the Richland Methodist Church Fellowship Hall on Sunday, October 22. A potluck supper will begin at 5 p.m. with brisket and pork loin provided. Music and message are at 6:30 p.m., a tribute to the cowboys we have lost, “You left a good trail to follow.” Come as you are, hats and boots welcome.

Prairie View Church drive-thru Turkey Supper, Tuesday, October 24

Prairie View Church will be holding its annual turkey supper at a drive-through only on Tuesday, October 24 from 4:30-7 p.m. The menu will feature turkey and all the trimmings as well as salad and dessert. $10 per meal, pay when you pick up. Prairie View is located at 27131 Highway 78 between Richland and Ollie.

The Richland Fire Dept. will be holding a Soup Supper Saturday, October 28 from 5-8 p.m., during Trunk or Treating. Dine in or carry out. Free will offering.

Pekin FFA and Richland Community Club will be hosting Trunk or Treat on the Richland square Saturday, October 28 from 5-7 p.m. Come enjoy Trunk or Treating, games for kids, and free food in the shelter.

The City of Richland Trick or Treat night will be Tuesday, October 31 from 5-8 p.m.

Hedrick Halloween Parade and Trick or Treat, Tuesday, October 31

The City of Hedrick Trick or Treat night will be Tuesday, October 31. Hot dogs will be served from 5-6 p.m. at the Community Center, the parade will start at 5:30 p.m. at the fire station and end at the Community Center. Trick or Treating will be from 6-8 p.m.

Tommy’s Helping Hands, Junk Yard Dogs, and Brighton Chamber of Commerce invite kids to a free hot dog and chips meal in Brighton’s Central Park from 5-6 p.m. on Tuesday, October 31. Trick or Treating will be from 5-7 p.m.
