Colten Bishop

In the spotlight this week is Pekin graduate Colten Bishop. He is the son of Mary and Danny Bishop.
Q: What school activities or clubs were you involved in and/or where did you work during school?
A: Football manager, track, basketball, cross country, baseball, 4-H, Boy Scouts, speech/theatre, youth group, cross age mentoring, Ruritan Rising Senior. I have worked at Walmart and Richie Farm.
Q: What’s your advice to underclassmen?
A: Don’t procrastinate. Grades matter at the start of freshman year.
Q: What is your favorite school memory?
A: Running at Forest Lake freshman year in cross country, and placing 8th in the 400 at districts my junior year in track.
Q: What are three words to describe yourself?
A: Hunter, compassionate, loyal
Q: What is your favorite quote/saying?
A: Life is simple, you make choices and you don’t look back.
Q: What are your future plans?
A: Attend Indian Hills for the auto tech program. I hope to start my own business someday.
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world where would it be and why?
A: Louisiana to meet Tom Landry. He is a simple man who is honest and appreciates the small things in life.
Q: If you could meet anyone from the past or present who would it be and why?
A: My grandpa Shirkey. He was ornery as a child and my mom tells me those stories. My middle name is part of his first name. He was a hard worker.
Q: Who is your biggest influence and why?
A: My parents because they have pushed me in different ways that has helped me be who I am today, and my Grandpa Bishop because he took me fishing at the age of 3.
