Cross Country season busy heading to conference meet

Pekin cross country teams ran in the Lighted Links meet in Ottumwa on the evening of Sept. 20.
Pekin girls’ team finished in seventh with 148 points. Winning was Iowa City with 42, Van Buren was second with 79 and Albia finished third with 87.
Chloe Glosser finished second with a time of 19:50.4, and Abby Guise was 29th in 22:58.3. Maddy Petrehn finished 43rd in 23:58.7, with Harper Guise and Callie Deutschle close behind in 44th and 45th in 24:00.0 and 24:00.1. Hailey Pedrick finished 56th in 24:46.5 and Zoe Heisdorffer was 57th in 24:50.2. Haven Hensley finished 78th in 28:19.5 and Reagan Wise was 84th in 28:53.9.
The Panther boys’ team took fourth place with 116 points. Winning that event was Chariton with 26, while Van Buren was second with 81 and Clear Lake third with 85.
Lane Fariss was the top runner for the team, taking fifth in 17:15.1. Cole Millikin finished ninth in 17:40.8 and Mason Dahlstrom was 11th in 17:52.8. Finishing in 47th was Landon Fariss with a time of 20:04.9 and Brody Sobaski was 50th in 20:17.4. Jaxon Mefford finished 59th for Pekin in 20:47.6 and Clayton Harvey was 75th in 21:22.9. Hayden Miller finished 80th in 21:49.1, Conor Cloyd was 84th in 22:16.8, Colton Harvey was 98th in 23:08.8, Wyatt Brown was 104th in 23:39.7, and Liam Guise was 105th in 23:45.7.
The Panthers ran in the Solon Invitational on Monday, Sept. 22.
The girls’ varsity team finished in seventh with 167 points, 19 behind sixth-place Washington.
Chloe Glosser was once again the top runner for Pekin, taking second place in 18:59.7. Abby Guise finished 41st in 23:34.0, while Maddy Petrehn was 44th in 23:55.5 and Harper Guise was 47th in 24:24.7. Callie Deutschle finished 53rd in 25:20.2, Cambree Earnest was 58th in 25:49.2, and Zoe Heisdorffer was 62nd in 26:08.7.
Pekin’s varsity boys’ team had an 11th place finish with 223. Points.
Cole Millikin was the top runner for the varsity boys’ team, finishing 12th in 17:43.3. Lane Fariss was 20th in 17:57.3 and Mason Dahlstrom was 31st in 18:33.5. Brody Sobaski finished 77th in 21:11.7, Landon Fariss was 83rd in 22:08.6, and Clayton Harvey was 84th in 22:31.4.
Running for the Pekin JV girls’ team were Haven Hensley, who finished 30th in 26:22.9 and Ragan Wise, who finished 70th in 31:45.3.
In the JV boys’ race, Wyatt Brown finished 79th with a time of 23:32.8, Conor Cloyd was 86th in 24:23.0, Colton Harvey was 87th in 24:43.4, and Liam Guise finished 95th in 25:14.4.
Pekin’s middle school girls’ team had a seventh-place team finish with 180 points.
The Panthers had Jude Freese-McCabe as the top runner, taking ninth in 13:52.7. Scout Lock finished 25th in 14:37.7 and Stella Dickey finished 38th in 15:18.6. Eleanora Ferrell finished 59th in 16:25.2, Preslee Hixson was 80th in 17:49.2, and Gracyn Hervey was 98th in 19:27.2.
Pekin hosted the annual Grade Races on Saturday, Sept. 27 at Waterworks Park in Fairfield.
12th Boys: Cole Millikin won the race with a time of 17:16.46 and Conor Cloyd finished eighth in 22:46.78.
12th Girls: Chloe Glasser won the race with a time of 19:45.47 and Abby Guise took second in 23:54.74. Hailey Pedrick had a fifth-place finish in 26:19.16.
11th Boys: Lane Fariss won the 11th grade race in a time of 17:44.41. Mason Dahlstrom finished third in 18:42.63, Brody Sobaski was fifth in 21:19.02, Clayton Harvey finished eighth in 23:24.66, and Wyatt Brown was 10th in 24:40.44.
11th Girls: Maddy Petrehn placed third in the race with a time of 23:48.19. Callie Deutschle was fifth in 24:40.33 and Cambree Earnest finished sixth in 24:57.62.
10th Boys: Liam Guise was the lone Panther in the race, finishing sixth in 26:09.19.
9th Boys: Landon Fariss took second place with a time of 20:55.38 and Colton Harvey was seventh in 25:34.07.
9th Girls: Zoe Heisdorffer took fourth place in 26:09.85, while Haven Hensley was sixth in 30:29.42 and Reagan Wise was seventh in 31:20.13.
8th Girls: Scout Lock won the race with a time of 11:43.80 with Stella Dickey finished third in 12:02.30.
7th Girls: Jude Freese-McCabe won the race with a time of 10:55.92. Eleanora Ferrell finished second in 12:30.24, Preslee Hixson was third in 13:38.73, and Gracyn Hervey finished fourth in 14:02.42.
Pekin’s cross country teams ran in the Bud & Bonnie Williams Invitational in Iowa City last Thursday, Oct. 2.
Pekin’s varsity girls’ team finished fifth with 150 points. Iowa City City High won the event with 35, Dubuque Senior finished second with 37, Cedar Rapids Prairie was third with 74, and Dubuque Hempstead finished fourth with 115. Ottumwa finished four points behind Pekin with 154.
Chloe Glosser was the top runner for the varsity team, finishing third with a time of 18:17.4. Abby Guise was the next Panther in, finishing 46th in 23:17.9, while Harper Guise was 48th in 23:49.6 and Cambree Earnest was 50th in 23:59.2. Zoe Heisdorffer finished 60th in 25:50.7, Haven Hensley was 63rd in 27:21.3, and Reagan Wise finished 66th in 31:16.8.
Pekin’s varsity boys’ team had a seventh place finish with 253 points. Winning the event was Cedar Rapids Prairie with 52, while Dubuque Senior was second with 59. WACO finished eighth with 260 and Ottumwa was tenth with 338.
Cole Millikin was the first Panther to cross the finish line, taking 26th in 16:57.8. Lane Fariss finished 52nd in 18:11.1 and Mason Dahlstrom was 60th in 18:33.4. Landon Fariss finished 91st in 20:45.9 and Brody Sobaski was 95th in 21:04.1. Hayden Miller finished 106th in 21:50.8, Conor Cloyd was 108th in 22:45.5, Clayton Harvey finished 110th in 23:33.1, Colton Harvey was 114th in 24:16.6, Wyatt Brown finished 115th in 24:58.1, and Liam Guise was 119th in 26:24.9.
