Dolly Parton Imagination Library arrives in Keokuk County

Kids aged birth to five-years-old in Keokuk County can now join Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library and be mailed free books to read. The kids who sign up will be mail an age-appropriate book directly to their home each month.
The Keokuk County Extension and Outreach has partnered with the Sigourney Area Ministerial Alliance to provide kids in Keokuk County with a free book each month.
“We’re excited to bring the Dolly Parton Imagination Library to Keokuk County,” said Kelly Walker, Keokuk County Extension and Outreach County Director. “By getting books into the hands of our kids, we are teaching them to love to read at a young age, all while setting them up for success in school and life.”
Since launching in 1995, Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library has become the preeminent early childhood book-gifting program in the world. The Dolly Parton Imagination Library has gifted well over 200 million free books in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, and The Republic of Ireland. The Imagination Library mails more than 1.8 million high-quality, age-appropriate books each month to enrolled children from birth to age five. Dolly envisioned creating a lifelong love of reading, inspiring them to dream. The impact of the program has been widely researched and results suggest positive increases in key early childhood literacy metrics.
