Dr. Bechtel's Critters visit the Richland Public Library
Jun. 20, 2024 3:01 pm
Dr. Michael Bechtel, an assistant professor at Wartburg College in Waverly, brought 15-20 different animals to share with kids and adults alike.
His animals included insects, such as different species of large cockroaches; arachnids including a tarantula and scorpion; and a large variety of reptiles and amphibians which included tortoises, turtles, a bearded dragon, snakes and tree frogs. The largest by far was a 50-pound tortoise named Big Bertha who had fun exploring the meeting room during her visit. The program was geared to all ages and the adults learned just as much as the kids did.
