Ella Bond’s Fight Against Rett Syndrome fundraiser Saturday
Sep. 21, 2023 2:28 pm
Nutrien Ag Solutions is hosting a fundraiser for employee Jared Bond’s daughter, Ella, this Saturday, Sept. 23 at the Carl Craft Civic Center in Hedrick.
Ella Bond’s Fight Against Rett Syndrome Fundraiser is being held for Ella Bond, daughter of Jared and McKenna Bond. Ella, who will be two in October, was diagnosed with Rett Syndrome in April 2023.
Ella was born a healthy baby, but around six months of age her parents noticed she was not meeting developmental milestones. She continued to have developmental delays as her parents searched for answers and started her in therapy. After almost a year of looking for answers, on April 5, 2023 they got her diagnosis, Rett Syndrome. That day will always be one of the worst in their lives. Since then, they have educated themselves and fought for Ella’s future by being prepared to give her the best life possible, despite Rett Syndrome and all its effects.
Rett Syndrome is a rare genetic neurological disorder that leads to severe impairments, affecting nearly every aspect of life. Rett particularly affects speech, purposeful hand use, and coordination, leaving individuals understanding more than they can communicate. Caused by a gene mutation, Rett is first recognized in infancy and occurs primarily in girls, with a growing number of males now being identified.
The fundraiser will kick off with a 2 vs. 2 Bags Tournament beginning at 3 p.m., registration for the tournament will be at 2:30. A free will donation supper provided by Bubba Q’s will start at 5 p.m. A silent auction will be held with last call for bids at 6:30, and winners announced at 7:15 p.m.
Please contact Nutrien Ag Solutions if you would like to donate to the silent auction, 641-653-4444.
