Girls’ team opens track season in Ames

The Panther girls’ track team opened their season last Thursday at the IATC State Indoor meet held in the ISU Leid Recreation Center in Ames.
Due to the inclement weather, all four classes ran on Thursday and all the classes ran events together. The events were divided into four classes at the end of the meet. The Pekin girls’ team finished third in Class 1A with 52 points. Grandview Christian placed first with 68 and Earlham was second with 58.
The 4x4 relay team of Claire Roth, Sabrina Reneker, Audrey Fariss, and Chloe Glosser placed second with a time of 4:30.23; while the sprint medley team of Kayse Miller, Lilly Reneker, Sabrina Reneker, and Claire Roth finished third with a time of 2:04.18.
The 4x8 relay team of Brooke Miller, Alex Parsons, Audrey Fariss, and Chloe Glosser came in fifth in 11:10.73.
Pekin’s shuttle hurdle team of Erica Hoy, Brooke Miller, Renae Eubanks, and Kayse Miller finished third in 46.67; and the 4x1 relay team of Erica Hoy, Kayse Miller, Renae Eubanks, and Lilly Reneker finished seventh in 59.1.
In individual events, Chloe Glosser placed second in the 1500 in 5:03.26; Erica Hoy finished fifth in the hurdles in 11.13; and Lexi Swearingen was seventh in the 400 in 1:10.78. Lauren Steigleder finished seventh in 12:36.8 and Brooke Miller eighth in 12:53 in the 3000.
In the field events, Anna Hadley finished third in the shot put with a throw of 31-3 and Haylea Oostra finished fourth with 28-8; Claire Roth took sixth in the long jump with a jump of 14-04 and Kayse Miller jumped 4-05 to finish eighth in the high jump.

Haylea Oostra finished fourth in the shot put with a throw of 28-feet, eight inches.
Anna Hadley finished third in the shot put with a throw of 31-feet, three-inches.
Lauren Steigleder finished seventh in 12:36.8 in the 3000.
Claire Roth was part of the sprint medley and 4x4 teams. The sprint medley team finished third, while the 4x4 had a second-place finish.
