The Fairfield Elks delivered dictionaries to every third grader at Pekin last week. The Elks have been doing this service for Pekin for about twenty years.

Pekin sent 12 students to the Southeastern Iowa Trades Expo at the Ottumwa National Guard Armory last week. They got to see and meet different trade groups from around the state. Special thanks to SSG Kyle Green for helping organize and inviting Pekin to attend.

Pekin TAG and Tech Students went to the Byte Jam Competition at Indian Hills Community College last week. The students could create and enter a video game, website, or mobile app into the competition. The students brought back two student choice trophies, a first place trophy, and a traveling trophy.Not only do students get to have fun at the competition but they can talk to people from various companies about computer programming jobs within those companies.Graduated Indian Hills Programming Students also attend the competition to share their experiences in college as well as being employed as computer programmers.
