In the spotlight this week is Pekin graduate Hudson VanEngelenhoven. He is the son of Scott VanEngelenhove and Beth Campbell. His siblings are Cedrick and Jarhett VanEngelenhoven.
While in school he was involved in Football, Basketball, and Baseball. He has also worked at North Hy-Vee in Ottumwa, and TSC in Ottumwa.
What’s your favorite school memory or what will you remember the most? Chase Stansberry rev bombin pie man’s rig on little Debby Wednesday.
If you could go back and change one thing, what would it be? I came to pekin sooner!
Finish this sentence: “I could not live without…” My friends (they know who they are) and family.
What’s the best and/or worst thing about being a senior? Best thing, the days go by faster and school goes by fast, bad thing… wanna be super lazy!
Which teacher or staff member has had the biggest impact on you and why? Paula Richards, she has left an everlasting impact on the things she’s taught me and provided me with in and out of school!
Advice to incoming high school freshmen: Surround yourself with good people and focus on what you want to do!
What are your plans after graduation? to attend Des Moines Area Community College for business administration and to try and play baseball, after transfer to a four year university.
What is one outrageous thing you want to try in your lifetime? (Sorry Dad) but getting some really fast cars with the boys and going on a really fast road trip!
If you could move anywhere in the world, where would you go and why? Somewhere out west, you’re more isolated and don’t have to talk to people if you don’t want to and the areas for large cabins is outstanding.
Who has been your biggest influence in your life and why? Koy Pollock, he invited me to his house one night in eighth grade to stay the night and took me under his wing ever since! Although we started out as a pair of knuckle heads he has helped me more, and made me feel right at home more, than anyone other than my own family! Through lots of hard decisions and things in life that I know, and would not want anyone else there to help me with, and for that I thank him very much.
