Ide Gymnastics crowns 15 National Champions

Ide Gymnastics showed up at the 2022 AAU Junior Olympics in Greensboro, North Carolina in July with 19 athletes and came back with 15 National Championships and loads of hardware and plaques. Coach Jeff is so very proud.

At the competition the athletes are divided into age groups and skill levels, and the competitors are then placed into “flights” of no more than 10 in each. The scores are then compiled and posted according to their placement against all other competitors in the same age and skill level. Some of these levels total 60 or more girls or boys. The overall top 10 scoring performers stand on the podium. The athletes compete in Trampoline, Double Mini Trampoline, Single Mini Trampoline and Power Tumbling.

Ide Gymnastics had a few athletes who received first place in more than one area. These were Ashlynn Adrian in Power Tumbling and Single Mini Trampoline at the Sub-Advanced level; Jacob Wallace in Trampoline and Double Mini Trampoline in the Novice level; Skylar Smith in Trampoline and Double Mini Trampoline in Intermediate level; and Kaylee Wright in Trampoline and Double Mini Trampoline in the Advanced and Intermediate levels. Kaylee Wright and Skylar Smith also received first place in Synchronized Trampoline in the Intermediate level while also receiving a coveted “10” perfect score.

Madilynn Wallace received first place in Power Tumbling in the Sub-Beginner level, ages 4 and under; Randi Ellis placed first in Trampoline in the Novice level, ages 5-8; Reagan Wise placed first in Power Tumbling in the Beginner level, ages 10; Riley Lathrop placed first in Trampoline in the Novice level, ages 10; and Alyson Lilley finished first in Power Tumbling in the Advanced Beginner level, ages 11.

Coach Marissa Rupe placed second in Elite Trampoline and second in Synchronized Trampoline with Shalome Watson. Ashlynn Adrian and Alyson Lilley placed second in Synchronized Trampoline.

Placing third in events were Kamryn Tharp in Power Tumbling; Dawson Wiggins in Double Mini Trampoline and Single Mini Trampoline; and Phoebe Sorak in Single Mini Trampoline.

Renleigh Forrett received a fourth-place finish in Trampoline and Single Mini Trampoline; while Eliana Ferdig placed fourth in Trampoline.

Nadia Royer came back with a fifth in Trampoline. Ashley Lyons placed seventh in both Power Tumbling and Double Mini Trampoline. Katelyn Brecount and Ashley Lyons received seventh place in Synchronized Trampoline. Katelyn Brecount finished tenth in Double Mini Trampoline. Aurora Rodriguez finished 12th in the finals for Trampoline. Vera Sorak finished 16th for both her Trampoline and Single Mini Trampoline, with the Single Mini Score being her best score yet!

During the Preliminaries of the competition, scores are accumulated and totaled against all ages in that level. Plaques are then given for the high scores. Receiving plaques for Ide Gymnastics were Riley Lathrop, Double Mini Trampoline, second place Intermediate level, Power Tumbling second place Sub-Novice Level, Trampoline second place Novice level. Reagan Wise, Power Tumbling second place Beginner level, Double Mini Trampoline first place Novice level. Skylar Smith, Trampoline first place Intermediate level. Alyson Lilley, Power Tumbling second place Advanced Beginner level. Ashlynn Adrian, second place Sub-Advanced level. Kaylee Wright, All-American Double Mini Award, Double Mini Trampoline second place Advanced level, Trampoline first place Intermediate level.
