2022 Pekin graduate Jackson Horras is in the spotlight this week. He is the son of Dan and Jeannie (stepmother) Horras, and Deven and Dave (stepfather) Menninga. His siblings are Bryce Horras, and Tyler and Nolan Verstreate (stepbrothers)
Q: What school activities or clubs were you involved in and/or where did you work while in school?
A: Basketball, Track, Baseball. I have been in FFA all four years and Livestock Judging for 3 years. Was on the Grinnell Ambassadors for 1 year and was a mentor for students against sexual assault for 1 year.
Q: What’s your advice to underclassmen?
A: Do as many activities as you can because high school goes quick and you can’t do those activities after.
Q: What’s your favorite school memory?
A: The whole Basketball season this year was some of the most fun I’ve had in high school.
Q: What are three words you would use to describe yourself?
A: Goofy, social, and hard working
Q: What’s your favorite quote or saying?
A: Some people call it luck, I call it dedication.
Q: What are your plans after graduation?
A: Going to DMACC to play baseball and major in Ag Business
Q: If you could travel anywhere, where would you go and why?
A: Probably Rome because of the history
Q: If you could meet anyone from the past or present, who would it be and why?
A: Michael Jordan. To talk to him about how he came from being cut from his basketball team to becoming an NBA star
Q: Who has been your biggest influence and why?
A: My Grandma, Sheila Horras, because she is one of the strongest women I know.
