Keokuk Co. Youth County Council hold a friendly Mac & Cheese contest
Apr. 4, 2024 9:44 am
Keokuk County’s Youth County Council have had an amazing year this far. From Clover Kids Halloween party, 4-H Lock-Ins at the Ottumwa YMCA, Packaging meals at Meals from the Heartland in Des Moines, to Awards Night in November.
At their March meeting the County Council members decided to take a night off from their normal activities and before they get into fair planning mode and have a Macaroni & Cheese Contest. Four two-person teams created their version of what an amazing dish of Mac & Cheese looked like. They had many different add-ins to choose from when making their dish, some options where: lobster, ham, bacon, broccoli, Velveeta, colby, mozzarella, queso cheese, breadcrumbs, different spices, and of course pickles.
The winning group of the Mac & Cheese contest was Adalynne Tremmel and Brayden Wood, runner-up was Carley Clarahan and Haylea Oostra. All four teams did an amazing job at making their perfect dish of mac & cheese. They would like to thank their judges Janis Collins, Carla Dumont, Maesyn Bain and Katharinna Bain for coming and trying their creations.
The Youth County Council’s next big event they will be volunteering at will be the Keokuk County Expo on July 15 — 20, 2024. To learn more about Keokuk County Extension and the 4-H programs, please contact them at xkeokuk@iastate.edu or by calling 641-622-2680.
