Keokuk County represented at Best of the Best Showdown in Marengo

SIGOURNEY — Keokuk County representation was small but mighty at the Best of the Best Showdown. Four Keokuk County 4-H and FFA Grand Champion winners participated in the 2025 Best of the Best Showdown on Saturday, July 26 at the Iowa County Fairgrounds in Marengo. The Best of the Best Showdown takes place between all the Grand Champions from county fairs located in Benton, Buchanan, Cedar, Clinton, Delaware, Dubuque, Iowa, Jones, Keokuk, Linn, Poweshiek, Scott, and Tama counties. It features market and breeding animals in swine, goat, sheep, and beef categories.
Those representing Keokuk County at the 2025 Best of the Best were: Lane Cason for Market Beef; Colt Reed for Breeding Heifer, Breeding Gilt, and Market Hog; Izzy Heisdorffer for Market Meat Goat and Breeding Meat Goat Doe; and Ty Heisdorffer for Market Lamb and Breeding Ewe.
Two Keokuk County exhibitors walked away from the Best of the Best Showdown winning showmanship honors. Izzy Heisdorffer of Riverside 4-H Club won Grand Champion Showman Breeding Doe. Colt Reed, of Patriotic Panthers 4-H Club won Grand Champion Showman Market Hog.
